FNS40217 – Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping Course

The Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping provides students with a thorough understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices. Students are equipped to continue their studies to a higher qualification or to gain employment as a contract bookkeeper or employee performing bookkeeping tasks. The aim of this course is to provide students with the skills and knowledge to be gainfully employed as a bookkeeper. Nationally recognised, this program meets all the requirements set out by the Tax Practitioners Board (TPB) for registering as a Business Activity Statements (BAS) Agent. Prerequisites
USI NUMBER: From 1 January 2015, all students doing nationally recognised training need to have a Unique Student Identifier. This includes students doing Vocational Education Training (VET) in schools. A USI is a reference number made up of numbers and letters. Get yours at no cost here.
Applicants must be 18 years and above and have the following:

Minimum academic requirement

Applicants must be 18 years and above and meet either of the following requirements;

(i) Minimum Academic requirement

Successful completion of Year 12 or equivalent
OR

Completion of Post-Secondary studies
OR

Successful completion of the Senior VCAL Certificate
(ii) Satisfactory completion of Pre- training interview questions related accounting and bookkeeping. Applicants who do not complete these questions appropriately will be required to enrol in and successfully completed the DVLC pre-accredited course called Nuts & Bolts of Bookkeeping

Alternative entry – work experience requirement

At least 6 months work experience in a related field

For the final work placement period at the end of the course, all students will require a valid Working With Children check and a Police Check clearance.

You will need access to a computer, the internet and have basic computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are:

Access to printer and associated software

Learners will need access to software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc. are available as a free download from the internet.
To successfully complete this course, learners will require basic computing skills. This includes:

Creating, saving and editing Microsoft Office documents
Accessing and searching the internet
Downloading and saving documents from websites
Uploading documents through websites
Participating in online discussions
Compressing image files
Other technology requirements

Office equipment and resources including telephone, photocopier, scanner and printer.
