An introduction to basic AUSLAN.
Content: Alphabet, numbers, basic signs, pronouns, families, colour, Communication guide, community/relationships, grammar, emotions, directions, AUSLAN grammar, money, food and how to finger spell.
Course will run for 8 weeks for 22 hours.
Pathways internally to advanced sign language. Externally to further studies in formal AUSLAN course.
Employment pathways: To working or volunteering in disability a growth area especially with the NDIS and the need for one on one carers.
This course is an excellent add on to improve the skills of people working with disabilities or doing a course in Disability/Community Services.
Learning to sign can enable you to:
Improve your ability to communicate with deaf people, friends and relatives;
Communicate directly with members of the deaf community;
Communicate more effectively;
Improve your language skills;
Improve your ability to converse.
Auslan for Beginners is an introductory course offering you a good foundation in day-to-day language and signing tools. Signs you will learn include:

Classes are related and taught by experienced AUSLAN teachers. You will have lots of chances to practice. Come by yourself and make new friends or come as a family or group and learn together.
You can enrol online or at our Centre.
Make payment in full on enrolment either by cash, credit card or EFTPOS. In some circumstances, it is possible to arrange a payment plan. Conditions apply.
To finalise your enrolment, you will be asked to present your Medicare card at reception for us to sight and photocopy. This is for proof of Australian residence purposes. Concession card holders will also need to present their concession card.
